The installation “Il Terzo Paradiso: Intrecci d’oro” by Michelangelo Pistoletto, inaugurated on October 2, 2024, at the evocative Battistero di San Giovanni in Tumba in Monte Sant’Angelo (Foggia), represents a powerful symbol of connection between past, present, and future within the context of Puglia’s special year as the Capital of Culture 2024. This extraordinary work, curated by the Guardini Ciuffreda studio, weaves together the mastery of Apulian craftsmanship and contemporary innovation, transforming fragile lace and intricate bobbin work into an eternal sculpture through a golden brass metallization process, skillfully executed by Materica.

Materica’s Experimentation

As demonstrated in Pistoletto’s work, Materica, through its continuous experimentation, has given new life to traditionally delicate materials such as lace and embroidery, making them durable and endowing them with a new sculptural function. Pistoletto’s installation will initially be displayed at the historic Tomba di Rotari and subsequently at the Castello di Monte Sant’Angelo, becoming a point of reference for the enhancement of Apulian artisanal heritage and a cultural catalyst for events and workshops.
