Il Terzo Paradiso: Pistoletto’s work shines with Materica’s metallization

The installation “Il Terzo Paradiso: Intrecci d’oro” by Michelangelo Pistoletto, inaugurated on October 2, 2024, at the evocative Battistero di San Giovanni in Tumba in Monte Sant’Angelo (Foggia), represents a powerful symbol of connection between past, present, and future within the context of Puglia’s special year as the Capital of Culture 2024. This extraordinary work, curated by the Guardini Ciuffreda studio, weaves together the mastery of Apulian craftsmanship and contemporary innovation, transforming fragile lace and intricate bobbin work into an eternal sculpture through a golden brass metallization process, skillfully executed by Materica.

Materica’s Experimentation

As demonstrated in Pistoletto’s work, Materica, through its continuous experimentation, has given new life to traditionally delicate materials such as lace and embroidery, making them durable and endowing them with a new sculptural function. This innovative metallization treatment elevates artisanal textile creations to a new level, projecting them into the future and conferring an artistic and symbolic dimension that transcends time. The collaboration with Materica has enabled the transformation of the ephemeral into the eternal, merging ancient textile tradition with a cutting-edge artistic vision.

Materica Opens New Horizons for Design

Pistoletto’s *Third Paradise*, symbolized by three interwoven circles, explores the balance between nature and artifice, past and innovation. Every detail of this installation embodies the idea of a new phase for humanity, where the harmonious connection between the artificial and the natural is at the heart of a renewed cultural awareness. In this context, Materica contributes with its experimental approach to redefining the boundaries between art, design, and craftsmanship, making visible the creative power inherent in manual work and material research. By doing so, it offers new and incredible creative and aesthetic opportunities for these fields.

In *Il Terzo Paradiso*, Art, Tradition, and Experimentation Converge

Pistoletto’s installation will initially be displayed at the historic Tomba di Rotari and subsequently at the Castello di Monte Sant’Angelo, becoming a point of reference for the enhancement of Apulian artisanal heritage and a cultural catalyst for events and workshops. Thus, *“Il Terzo Paradiso: Intrecci d’oro”* aims to serve as a space for meeting and reflection, where art, tradition, and experimentation come together to offer the community and visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the cultural identity of the region.
