Materica’s Milan Design Week

Materica’s Milan Design Week went far beyond expectations, with a success that was as much hoped for as it was unexpected, confirming the good things done in recent years. A good moment for Materica, which, however, should not be a point of arrival but of beginning, with the awareness that, through metallization and its decorative treatments, the company can carve out a very important place for itself within the world of design, architecture and art.

Materica’s Milan Design Week was an exciting and fulfilling week, with our brand being present in three distinct and very characteristic locations: Alcova in the former slaughterhouse, the Fabbrica del Vapore and the Xacus store on Via Solferino.

The aesthetic and qualitative power of Materica was visible in all the installations, with these three impactful works in which all the charm and surprising ductility of the metallization technique emerged.

Interna_mente, Alcova Milano

At Alcova, Materica presented Interna_mente, its first solo work created under the guidance of the Guardini-Ciuffreda studio. A unique installation capable of enchanting and immersing the visitor in another dimension, without space or time. A work that became a sensory experience that met with the favor of the public and the organizers of Milano Design Week, since it welcomed more than 20 thousand people and ended up on the short-list for the Fuorisalone Award in the “Technology” category. And it was precisely the metallization technology that surprised visitors: having transformed a compostable resinated polystyrene face over two meters in size into a real brass casting amazed and enchanted the audience and opened new horizons for Materica’s future achievements.

The Egg of Vitruvius, Fabbrica del Vapore

The Uovo di Vitruvio (Vitruvius’ Egg) dominated at the Fabbrica del Vapore: it was one of the main works of Esprit Magicien, the exhibition by HoperAperta for Milan Design Week. This work, the brainchild of Armando Bruno and Alberto Torres, Ceo and designer of the Marco Piva studio, respectively, was made by Materica, once again exploiting the incredible potential of metallization even this time on an unusual support: compostable resin-coated polystyrene.

Mystery/Mastery, Xacus Store

At the Xacus store, it was possible to admire Mystery/Mastery, an extraordinary shirt re-interpreted by designer and architect Matteo Cibic, on the occasion of Milan Design Week. It was a symbolic and monumental reading of the shirt object, in which the unmistakable touch of Materica’s metallization gave the work a sacred and eternal aura thanks to the shirt’s precious brass coating made of polyurethane resin.

Three different and unique works that allowed Materica to take another step forward in what is its path in the world of design and architecture and art. This was Materica’s Milan Design Week, an unforgettable week that marks a milestone in Materica’s evolutionary journey.
