On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026 (MDW26), Materica is participating in *Frammenti di un discorso amoroso*, a project by STORAGEMILANO that interprets design as an open system in constant transformation.

The installation, hosted at the studio’s headquarters in Milan from April 20 to 24, takes shape starting from the screen, an archetypal element of architecture capable of redefining space through its positioning. A modular structure that changes configuration every day, generating new relationships between object, environment, and observer.

As part of Milan Design Week 2026, Materica’s contribution focuses on the transformation of the surface. The fir wood structure, clad in natural jute, undergoes a cold zinc metallization process, is subsequently hand-polished, and protected by an invisible nanotechnological treatment.

The result is a vibrant, layered material capable of reacting to light and altering the perception of space. In this context, metallization—Materica’s signature technology—becomes a design element, transforming organic materials into metallic surfaces and redefining their identity.

Materica’s participation in MDW26 reaffirms its role as a technical and creative partner for highly experimental design and architecture projects.
