Materica has been shortlisted in the ADI Design Index 2025, the annual publication that selects the best Italian design projects competing for the Compasso d’Oro, the most prestigious and historic international award in the field, established in 1954 by ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale.
This recognition confirms the quality, vision and design capabilities of Materica and its metallization process, capable of shaping surfaces and solutions with exceptional aesthetic and functional impact.
Two projects have been selected in this edition: Superfici Venice Collection and Il Terzo Paradiso – Intrecci d’oro, both developed with the design and curatorial support of Guardini Ciuffreda Studio.
“Being selected for the ADI Design Index 2025 is not just a milestone; for Materica, it’s the confirmation that our vision leaves a mark,” says Maurizio Orfino, CEO of Materica. “Two projects, two different approaches, one material transformed through metallization. Our ability to interpret ideas and give them shape through vibrant, elegant, meaningful surfaces is now part of the Compasso d’Oro conversation — the highest recognition in Italian design. It moves us deeply. And pushes us further.”
Born from collaboration with several internationally renowned designers, this collection explores the material and luminous potential of metallization. Textures, volumes and reflections combine to form surfaces capable of dialoguing with architecture, enhancing spatial perception, and becoming protagonists in any environment. These are not mere coverings, but narrative elements that interpret and amplify a project’s identity.
In this artistic project by Michelangelo Pistoletto, material becomes a symbol of cultural and social meaning. Through Materica’s artisanal metallization, delicate hand-woven lace is transformed into a sculptural, timeless surface — one that gains permanence and expressive strength, otherwise lost to decay. The result is an artwork that unites art, vision and sustainability, making a universal message tangible.
In both projects, Materica brought its expertise in metallizing complex surfaces and enhancing diverse materials, translating creative vision into technical precision and formal sensitivity. Materica reaffirms itself as an ideal partner for cross-disciplinary projects — from product to art, from interiors to contract — capable of turning vision into something concrete, material, luminous.
Being part of the ADI shortlist is an honor. And a push to continue experimenting, innovating, and taking Italian design toward new horizons.
